WOW, that was record-setting attendance! 7 of us (and a couple more stopped in for a while, too)! What a fun, fun, FUN parents' night out. I can't say enough how impressed I am with the families of INCH. It's so rejuvenating to get together at MJ's coffeehouse and talk about anything and everything. Thanks to all for making it such a great evening!

Super Science Party

From Jack and Jill Preschool:

We are trying to reach homeschooling parents and children in an effort to extend them this INVITATION TO JACK AND JILL'S SUPER SCIENCE PARTY. The date is Monday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Jack and Jill Preschool, 280 Hillcrest Rd., Lebanon. The event is free (although donations are welcome) and open to all young children in the area. Activity centers include electricity, tasting, water, smelling, touching, simple machines, hearing, plants and more. An insect dig, sensory walk, live farm animals and animals from Zoo America are planned. You can either come with your children to the event or become involved by setting up a hands-on science center for the children. If you want to do that, please call Rita Moore at 273-2168. We hope you will help us spread the word by forwarding this to other homeschooling parents and/or parents of young children in the area. We anticipate lots of learning fun and we hope that you will join us.

Law Day

Dear Teacher/Educator:

The Lebanon County Bar Association is pleased to announce the 50th anniversary of Law Day. The state-wide celebration is observed on May 1, 2008. The program is designed to bring together judges, lawyers and schools to help children learn about the law, the legal system and to celebrate the American heritage of liberty, justice and equality.

This year’s theme, “Growing Strong Citizens”, encourages kids to explore ways in which they can become active, involved citizens, who can make a positive impact on society.

The Lebanon County Bar Association invites all fourth and fifth grade students at the Lebanon County schools to participate in its annual essay contest based on the theme, “Growing Strong Citizens”. One winner will receive a $250.00 savings bond. The winning student will be invited to attend the Law Day Ceremony held at the Lebanon County Courthouse on May 1, 2008. That student will be presented their award by the President Judge, The Honorable Robert J. Eby. Rules and guidelines for the essay contest are attached.

A toll-free Law Day hotline (1-877-329-7621) is available to you to register your class to receive a Law Day brochure and “lesson plan” to help your students better understand how to become a strong citizen.

If you are interested in having a judge or lawyer visit your classroom this school year; to schedule a visit to the courthouse; or need additional information, please respond by calling the Lebanon County Bar Association – Dena Woelfling – 273-3113, by March 31, 2008.
